On December 15, 2016, Sleeves Up held its kickoff event, presenting its finalized training program to approximately 50 participants, including refugees, NGO representatives, and local stakeholders. Fabienne Colling (President of Touchpoints asbl), Martine Neyen (Project Chief of Mateneen, Oeuvre Nationale de Secours Grande-Duchesse Charlote), and Emile Eicher (Clervaux Bourgmestre) provided introductions. Jordan Gerstler-Holton, Sleeves Up Program Director, discussed the program.
The event was held in English, with simultaneous translation provided in French, Arabic, and Persian (the last one courtesy of AIKL). Clervaux Commune graciously provided the auditorium space as well as cocktails, and Letzsy Connections – a Syrian group promoting social and cultural integration in Luxembourg – served hor d’oeuvres.
